The CHIPS and Science Act – A $50 Billion Investment

Andrew Stettner is the Director of Workforce Policy & Senior Fellow at the Century Foundation, where he has been researching and advocating for inclusive bottom up economic development in manufacturing communities.

Andrew will review a model of technology and manufacturing economic development, and delve into key portions of the CHIPS & Science Act of 2022 focused on regional economic development. The presentation will focus on the Regional Technology Hub Program, the RECOMPETES pilot, the National Science Foundation’s Regional Innovation Engine program. Andrew will also delve into ways the CHIPS & Science Act can help communities pursue inclusive innovation, especially by strengthening partnerships with Historically Black Colleges & Universities and with rural leaders.

Sandra Watson, CEO and President of the Arizona Commerce Authority and SEDE Chair, will also share remarks on an interstate semiconductor initiative that Arizona is working on in collaboration with several states.
